There are many resources available to help gardeners plant, grow and maintain trees, shrubs and vines in northwestern Nevada (Reno-Sparks and the surrounding area). Idlewild Park -- Idlewild Drive on the south side of the Truckee River west of Booth Street, Reno -- has over 100 species of trees, up to 80 years old. These include 12 State Champion trees. Contact City of Reno, Parks Department at (775) 334-2270. University of Nevada at Reno (UNR) -- Between 9th Street and McCarran Boulevard and between North Virginia Street and Evans Avenue. The campus is an arboretum and contains a large variety of trees, including 22 State Champions. Wilbur May Arboretum, Rancho San Rafael Park (RSR) -- 1502 Washington Street, Reno -- about 20 years old, with many species of woody plants. Has self-guiding maps onsite. Garden clubs and societies:
